Using AmCare Throughout an Organization
AmCare helps physicians, nurses, pharmacists, clerks, and administrators work together.
AmCare satisfies the clinical needs of a health care organization on many levels:
- Clinicians.
For clinicians, the AmCare Clinical Suite improves efficiency and allows for greater control of patient panels. Based on clinical goals, users can elect to work with patients through either a case-managed or population-based approach. AmCare allows these users to spend time as clinicians rather than data gatherers and paper shufflers. By using the system, much of the clinical information that is usually hidden in paper charts is now stored in the AmCare database, automatically generated, and easily retrieved.
- Physicians.
Physicians can use AmCare to care directly for patients, and to mentor assistants who take over disease management for patients with chronic, relatively stable conditions.
- Clerks.
Clerks can use AmCare to generate form letters either one at a time or in batches, retrieve current patient summaries for others, interview patients, and enter results and assessments which automatically notify the relevant providers.
- Managers.
For managers, AmCare greatly simplifies the collection of information, whether for a HEDIS report, to check on staff productivity, or to track the outcome of clinical interventions. More importantly, the system can institutionalize the direction of care by enforcing protocols and care paths.
- Administrators.
Administrators can get a snapshot of the entire operation. Using the query and report wizards built into AmCare, administrators can monitor the efficacy of various care approaches, check on the adherence to national standards, and perform research and publish outcomes.
Because all these people are interacting through a common clinical care system, AmCare brings coherence and synergy to their work.
